— Reliable project delivery

From planning and production to on-site installation

Building a steel structure requires more than just a good design. Engineering, project management, production and assembly must be aligned with the project schedule and the work carried out by other parties. At Severfield, we bring these disciplines together within a single project approach. This enables us to prepare the steel structure meticulously and take the requirements of the construction phase into account at an early stage. By looking ahead from the preparation stage to production, delivery schedules, the assembly sequence and the situation on site, we can address construction risks and interfaces early in the project.

— Our approach

An integrated approach from design to implementation

Our project teams bring together engineering, production and installation throughout the project. As a result, decisions are not made in isolation; we also assess what they mean for production and on-site implementation. Project management acts as the central link between the client, the project team, suppliers and other parties involved. In this way, we keep track of the project schedule, technical interfaces, changes and project requirements, and ensure that responsibilities across the various disciplines are clearly defined.

Production tailored to the project

With our own production facilities and automated production processes, we have the capacity and flexibility to support a wide range of steel construction projects. By carefully coordinating production, transport and assembly, we are able to accommodate complex project schedules and phased deliveries.

As part of the Severfield Group, we also have access to an international network of production facilities across the United Kingdom and Europe. With a combined annual group production capacity of over 300,000 tonnes, we have the capacity and flexibility to deliver even large steel packages within challenging project schedules.

Thinking ahead before the steel arrives on site

Every construction site presents different challenges in terms of construction logistics, accessibility, lifting operations and assembly. That is why, right from the preparation stage, our teams assess the conditions on site and consider how the steel structure can be delivered and assembled safely and efficiently.

In doing so, we take into account, amongst other things, the construction schedule, delivery times, assembly sequence, lifting plan, temporary facilities and stability, access to the construction site and interfaces with other works. By coordinating these aspects at an early stage, potential bottlenecks can be identified early and incorporated into the work planning and assembly methodology. In this way, we minimise the risk of disruptions during execution and ensure that delivery and assembly are aligned with the project’s progress.

Safety as an integral part of implementation

Safety is an integral part of our project approach right from the preparation stage. When determining the logistics, lifting operations, assembly sequence and assembly methods, we consider not only efficient execution but also the risks that may arise during the work.

Our installation teams work in accordance with established safety and quality procedures, supported by our QHSE department. Severfield Europe is certified to Level 3 of the Safety Culture Ladder and holds VCA-P certification. By incorporating safety at an early stage, risks can be assessed in advance and measures incorporated into the implementation plan.

Keeping track of planning and progress

During implementation, our project teams monitor progress against the project schedule and agreed milestones. In doing so, we keep track of changes, dependencies and interfaces that may affect production, delivery or installation. The project manager acts as the central point of contact and ensures coordination between the client, project teams, suppliers and other parties involved. This enables changes and bottlenecks to be discussed in good time and ensures that the schedule, responsibilities and project requirements remain clear throughout the implementation phase.
