A home game for our assembly team: on behalf of Ter Steege Bouw Vastgoed, we helped build a new education centre in Rijssen. Kampus, a ‘building full of talent’, is an education centre for vocational training courses for various branches. We started in October last year and we completed our work on the building at the beginning of April.
We took care of a large part of the structural work: we supplied and mounted the steel structure, which supports the four storeys (three floors) of the building, and installed the hollowcore concrete floors and the facade cladding. We also carried out the detailed calculations for the steel structure, taking into account the details in the design as provided by the architect. An example is that of the Alucobond aluminium frames which are attached to the facade. The building has been designed in such a way that it can be expanded in the future: in the design and calculation of the steel structure, the possible adding of two storeys has been taken into consideration.
The construction sequence, which was mainly determined by the design of the building, required the necessary flexibility during the assembly phase. Where we usually carry out the assembly during a consecutive period, the work was now spread over a longer period of time. During the construction, we therefore consulted regularly with our principal Ter Steege. Therefore, the fact that both companies and the construction site are located in Rijssen was an advantage. The project is currently in the completion phase. The building will be ready before the summer holidays and will open its doors to students and teachers from the start of the new school year.
Kampus is the result of close collaboration between companies and educational institutions. The center offers vocational training for sectors in which there is a high demand for talented people (including construction, installation technology, care and retail). The educational institutions ROC van Twente, REMO West-Twente, Bouwmensen Rijssen and Zorggilde Reggestreek will be housed in the new building.
