Commissioned by Heembouw, we are involved in the construction of a sustainable distribution centre for Brocacef, supplier of medicines and medical products. This actually concerns two projects in one, since we are also building the parking garage for the distribution center in collaboration with our partner EZ Park.
For the distribution centre we supply and assemble the steel structure of more than 1,200 tons, the hollow-core concrete slab floors and concrete elements, such as plinths. The building consists of 22,450 square meters of warehouse and approximately 2,150 square meters of office space. Heembouw Architects is responsible for the modern design of the building, which has a high-tech look created by large overhangs, different roof heights and rounded corners. With the construction of the new distribution center, Brocacef is able to double its production capacity. After completion, the building will meet the BREEAM Very Good requirements thanks to, among other things, solar panels on the roof and solar control glass.
Our assembly team will soon complete its work on the distribution center. Next week, they will start assembling the parking garage of approximately 8,000 square meters, for which we supply and install the steel structure, fencing and TT floors. A special feature of the parking garage is that it will be ‘nature-inclusive’: the plants on the facade not only provide a green look, but also mute traffic noise and purify the air. The garage will be equipped with charging stations for electric cars and with a bicycle shed with charging points for e-bikes. The parking garage will receive the BREAAM Very Good certificate after completion as well.
Brocacef will use the new multifunctional distribution center for the city logistics of medicines and medical products. From here, Brocacef will not only supply business customers, such as pharmacies and institutions, but medicines will also be delivered directly to the consumer's home in the city. Thanks to its location on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the number of kilometres driven will be reduced.
