On the Lage Weide industrial estate in Utrecht we are currently building the new Hydra distribution centre. On behalf of Heembouw Bedrijfsruimten West we assemble the steel structure of almost 700 tonnes and the floors of the building.
As a strategic partner of Heembouw, we were in this project also involved from an early stage. This cooperation contributes to optimal process management, because we closely coordinate our processes. We developed the model in 3D BIM and drew up our planning in consultation with the other parties involved. The assembly is proceeding entirely according to this schedule: a large part of the steel structure has been assembled and the contours of the distribution centre are now visible. The building will be completely wind and watertight by the end of this month.
The distribution centre consists of a warehouse of 20,291 square meters, more than 1,300 square meters of office space and a mezzanine on the first floor. On the ground floor a central hall, offices, a canteen and an expedition are located. The design of Heembouw Architects also includes the layout of the greenery. This is reflected in the green façade panels and in the sprinkler tank covered with greenery, thus providing a habitat for insects and birds. Upon completion, the distribution centre will receive the BREEAM Very Good rating.
