New education building Inholland University of Applied Sciences
Our assembly team is currently working on the new education building of Hogeschool Inholland in Amsterdam. We were commissioned for this project by the construction consortium Visser & Smit Bouw bv | HOMIJ Technische Installaties, both VolkerWessels companies.
ATRIUM AS FOCAL POINT
The building of approximately 30,000 square meters consists of a high-rise of over 38 meters and a medium and low-rise. Due to the open design of architectural firm cepezed, the steel structure remains largely visible on the inside. The large atrium with grandstand staircase, combining high and low steps for multifunctional use, serves as a focal point. In this future 'smart building' with a flexible layout, energy is generated and daylight and outdoor ventilation are brought in.
LARGE TRUSS BEAM
We assemble the ten-story steel structure of the high-rise, which consists of steel tubular columns and THQ and SFB beams. We also assemble the grandstand staircase in the atrium. Next to the staircase a truss beam will be mounted that spans two floors. This truss beam – 30 meters long and 8 meters wide, with a weight of around 50,000 kilograms – is assembled at ground level on the construction site and then hoisted into place in its entirety. The atrium roof of steel and glass will be placed on the fifth floor of the low-rise, which further consists of voids from the ground floor. We expect to complete this job in the spring of 2023.
