For the second year in a row we received the Construsoft BIM Award! This happened today in the Voortman Experience Center, where Voortman Steel Construction received the prize. The professional jury unanimously agreed: project 'The Joan' is the winner in the Commercial Projects category.
What the jury was particularly enthusiastic about is the extensive, detailed project information, which adequately reflects the project 'The Joan'. This states, for example, that Voortman Steel Construction has collaborated with many parties and has used BIM in the right way. In the context of the open BIM method, data was exchanged via IFC, BCF and source files. IFC is an open standard for exchanging BIM data and BCF stands for BIM Collaboration Format. Furthermore, according to the jury, it is a very beautiful building, in which the project team has included various sustainability aspects in the design and realization. The jury particularly appreciated the abundance of light in the building and its multifunctional use.
The Joan responds to the increasing demand for a sustainable and healthy working environment in an easily accessible location – at the junction of the highways A10 and A2 in Amsterdam Duivendrecht. The eight-storey building contains 24,000 square meters of office and business space with a flexible layout. On behalf of Visser & Smit Bouw, we supplied and mounted the steel structure, provided with a 60-minute fire-resistant coating, and the hollow-core slab floors. Our project team contributed ideas about optimization and feasibility of the design and about an efficient construction process.
