Wood meets steel in new DPG Media office
Mediavaert is the name of the new office of DPG Media in Amsterdam-Duivendrecht. With more than 44,000 square meters, it is one of the largest wood-hybrid office buildings in the world.
STEEL BASE
In collaboration with real estate developer BEING, DPG Media concluded an agreement with BESIX Nederland for the construction. Although the building consists largely of a wooden construction, it also contains more than 600 tonnes of steel. Commissioned by BESIX, we supplied various steel components, the hollow-core slab floors and the roof and wall cladding. We also supplied and mounted the steel cantilever of the building.
ENERGY EFFICIENT
The building contributes to the sustainability ambition of the client through the use of a wooden construction. The project also aims for a BREEAM Excellent certification. Thanks to, among other things, underground heat and cold storage with a heat pump and solar panels on the roof, the building is very energy efficient. It will be taken into use by DPG Media in 2024.
