On Tuesday 15 October, the National Steel Prize was awarded at the AFAS Theatre in Leusden during the Steel Construction Day. We are proud to announce that Severfield Steel Construction walked away with the award in the residential construction category!
From the 17 entries, the jury selected three nominations. Two of the three nominations were Severfield projects: KNSF 27 houses in Muiden (client Ufkes) and Villa te Meijendel in Wassenaar (client Jan Pesman of cepezed). The latter project was awarded the National Steel Award 2024; a great appreciation for everyone who contributed to this project. On behalf of Severfield Steel Construction, Projects Director Arjan van Dijk accepted the award.
The villa, located in the edge of the wooded dune area of Wassenaar, was built with a steel skeleton from the ground floor up. The structures were made extra rigid to carry the weight of the large glass facades. Because the steel structure of the house remains in sight, the dimensions were tailored to the visible detailing and special attention was paid to the nodes and connections.
