Smarter quality control with Extended Reality (XR)

At Severfield, we are constantly looking for ways to work smarter, more efficiently and with even higher quality. A good example of this is the recent implementation of LogicSteel XR, an innovative quality control tool that uses Extended Reality (XR) software developed by Voortman Steel Machinery. This new technology enables us to check large steel assemblies in the workshop for completeness and dimensional accuracy more quickly, accurately and efficiently.

How does it work?

The Tekla 3D model designed by our engineering department is loaded directly into LogicSteel's cloud environment. The XR glasses retrieve the virtual overlay from there, which is then projected onto the actual assembly in the workshop. This makes it possible to see at a glance whether all parts have been assembled correctly, whether any holes or welded parts are missing, and where any deviations are located.

Practical implementation

Severfield Steel Construction Netherlands (Rijssen)
Our production site in Rijssen was able to test the technology at an early stage, providing valuable insights into its use in a production environment. The collaboration offered the opportunity to evaluate the application under realistic conditions, provide feedback to the developers, and contribute ideas for practical improvements for everyday use.

Severfield De Haven (Maassluis)
LogicSteel XR will also be implemented at our production site in Maassluis in the near future. Initial preparations have begun, so that the technology can soon be fully deployed for quality control at our Maassluis site. This means that both production sites will soon be working with LogicSteel XR.
