The expansion of the nitrogen installation at Zuidbroek was a necessary measure to bring gas extraction in Groningen to zero as quickly as possible. By adding nitrogen to imported gas, it becomes suitable for our heating boilers and gas stoves, among other things.
We supplied and mounted the steel structures for the process buildings, including the 2,000-tonnes steel structure for the main building. This contains a number of special joints, in which plastic plates are incorporated as cathodic protection to prevent corrosion.
