The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a multidisciplinary research facility in Lund, Sweden. It is the world's leading scientific neutron source and a “super microscope” for materials research. Fifteen European countries and around 2,000 scientists will work together here from the end of 2027.
The construction of the various ESS buildings and facilities, among which a particle accelerator, was one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe, built on a site of about 70 hectares. ESS has been designed, built and is operated at a high safety level to meet users' expectations and all legal requirements.
Our activities
Severfield is responsible for supplying and assembling 3,300 tonnes of steel structures and cladding.
