Severfield Steel Construction Netherlands is proud to have played a key role as steel partner in this special project. Commissioned by Beltim Bouwprojecten, we supplied all the steelwork for the new indoor amusement park Bommelwereld. Since construction began in 2023, we have supplied no less than 1,180 tonnes of steel for the construction of the park. The project included the iconic castle with towers, the entrance building and the play hall with an impressive 53-metre free span.
Our work
Our work included the complete design, delivery and assembly of various steel structures, including the iconic castle with towers, the entrance building and the play hall. A special feature of the play hall was the impressive 53-metre free span, a technical feat that was only possible thanks to the excellent collaboration between Severfield and Beltim Bouwprojecten. In addition, we provided the stability construction for the decorative mountains and the structures for several attraction buildings. We were also responsible for the delivery and installation of the roof and wall cladding, ComFlor floors and grating floors. Finally, we also took care of the installation of the hollow core slabs.
A fine example of craftsmanship: four towers weighing 25 tonnes each
One of the most spectacular moments during the construction of Bommelwereld was the installation of the four imposing towers on Bommelstein Castle. Each of these towers weighs no less than 25 tonnes and was hoisted with extreme precision onto a specially designed steel ring structure. This ring, developed and supplied by Severfield Steel Construction Netherlands, forms the load-bearing heart of the castle and makes it possible to position the towers safely and stably at a height of over 23 metres. ‘The best moment? When the last tower was in place and Bommelstein really came to life. That's when you know: we've created something special here,’ says Jan Lubbers, project manager at Severfield Europe.
