The world-famous American designer Michael Kors commissioned Wijnen Bouwgroep to realize a large state-of-the-art distribution center at Trade Port Noord in Venlo. Severfield Steel Construction was commissioned to supply and assemble the more than 4,700-tonnes steel structure.
From the distribution centre of approximately 115,500 m2, clothing, footwear and jewellery will be shipped throughout Europe and the Middle East. Achieving a short production and assembly time was partly decisive for obtaining the order. The steel structure was assembled in just over 16 weeks. In addition to the size of the building, it is also sustainable, which is characteristic of the principle of DENC (Design-Engineering-Contracting). The BREEAM qualification "Very Good" has been achieved by applying among other things LED lighting and solar panels.
