Recertification achieved: valuable confirmation and new insights

At the beginning of July, Severfield Steel Construction Netherlands successfully completed the external audits for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and VCA-P. These certifications represent internationally recognised standards in the field of quality, environmental and safety management within industry and petrochemicals. We are proud to announce that we have successfully retained all three certifications. In addition to this recertification, the audit process also provided valuable insights. These will help us to further refine our processes and continuously improve our working methods.

“These recertifications confirm that our customers can count on quality, sustainability and safety,” says Norbert Nijhuis, Divisional Managing Director at Severfield Europe. “At the same time, we see this as an invitation to remain critical and to continue to develop and improve as an organisation.”

Safety culture as a foundation

The recertifications are not only a confirmation of our processes, but also of our culture. Safety plays a very important role in this. At Severfield Europe, we are building a safety culture based on four pillars: processes, measures, employees and systems. By simplifying, standardising and actively involving employees, we create a working environment in which working safely is a matter of course.

“Certificates are important, but ultimately it’s about how we work safely and responsibly together every day,” says Femke Machiels, QHSE Manager. “The recertifications are not an end point, but rather an incentive to raise our standards even further and continue to learn as an organisation.”

From pillars to safety principles

LEADERSHIP

Leadership in safety is about ownership and providing support so that colleagues can learn from their daily work.

EFFECTIVE MEASURES

Safety is determined by the presence of measures that enable safe working practices. These ensure that risks remain under control, even under diverse and varying conditions.

ENGAGING WITH EMPLOYEES

Our culture is focused on learning and continuous improvement. We achieve this through collegial involvement and support, from the shop floor to the office.

Reporting culture

A strong reporting culture is an essential part of working safely. It enables us to identify and manage risks at an early stage, while also sharing successes and good examples. This means we learn not only from incidents, but also from what is going well. We actively encourage colleagues, partners and clients to share their observations and experiences. By communicating openly and giving each other feedback, we create an environment in which safety becomes tangible and visible, every single day. Reports or suggestions can be easily shared via qhse@severfield.com

Audits at Severfield De Haven are also scheduled to take place soon. We are looking forward to them with confidence and will, of course, keep you informed of the results.
