Contractor combination Cedrie, consisting of Bouwbedrijf Berghege BV, Heerkens van Bavel Bouw BV and Kropman Installatietechniek BV, built the Grotius building on behalf of Radboud University Nijmegen. Severfield Steel Construction delivered and assembled the steel structure.
The sustainably designed building houses various teaching and study spaces, a library, a restaurant with an outdoor terrace and a lecture hall with a capacity of 500 places, making it the largest lecture hall of Radboud University. The building has a total gross floor area of over 26,000 square meters. Under the building there is a parking garage with a capacity of approximately 350 places.
