Within walking distance of Utrecht Central Station, at the head of the future Beurskwartier district, a new building called Wonderwoods will be constructed. It consists of two green towers with a mix of living, working, relaxation, culture and catering. Completion is scheduled for 2022. We supply and assemble around 500 tons of steel for this project, including the steel for the connecting bridge between the two buildings. Our work will start later this year.
Nature to the city
The Wonderwoods plan has been developed by consortium G&S Vastgoed and KondorWessels Projecten. It consists of two green towers of 105 and 73 metres high. Wonderwoods wants to bring nature into the city for a healthier life. The balconies and facades will be planted with plants inspired by species from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.
Rooftop park
The towers will house approximately 420 rental and owner-occupied properties for various target groups. The towers also provide space for offices, healthy hospitality concepts, fitness/yoga, small-scale shops, a rooftop park with an education centre and a digital museum and testing ground. There will be bicycle sheds and an underground parking garage. The mix of functions contributes to the development of the desired lively urban environment in the Beurskwartier.
