The Joan is a modern and sustainable multitenant building in Amsterdam Duivendrecht, in a prominent location at the junction of the A10 and A2. The eight-storey building contains 24,000 square meters of office and business space with a flexible layout. It also offers space for events and a publicly accessible catering facility.
The building has received a BREEAM Excellent certification. Measures have been taken in the design and construction to increase its durability, such as collecting and reusing rainwater and the use of sustainable building materials.
Characteristic of the building is the glass facade with steel crosses. On behalf of Visser & Smit Bouw, our contribution to the project consisted of supplying and assembling the steel structure, which is provided with a 60-minute fire-resistant coating, and the hollow-core slab floors. As a chain partner, we were part of the construction team from an early stage. Our project team contributed ideas about optimization and feasibility of the design and the efficiency of the construction process.
